NCCU Host the Howard Bison in homecoming showdown.

With the North Carolina Eagles sitting at a 6-2 record, (2-1) in MEAC play. Averaging just over 37 points a game this team is more than poised to take on Howard, who sit at the number one spot in the MEAC.

The Eagles defeated the Bison back in November 2021, 45-27. Giving them plenty of confidence heading into this year's match. The Howard Bison will look to break a nine-game losing streak, with their last victory coming in 1995, according to the NCCU athletics page.

“It's going to be a good experience, we're excited to get one for our fans, and definitely looking to put on a show,” RT Daquan Thomas said in a statement.

“It's fun to be able to play in front of those large crowds, as a player, when those former players come back and watch you play, that means a lot. You really want to put forth your best effort and you want to make those guys proud, when they are reminiscing about those days, when they played,” Head Coach Trei Oliver said in an interview with Jonathan Duren during the NCCU Homecoming addition Kickoff show.

Coach Oliver warned his team of the explosiveness of Howards team this year, whether it's the veteran Quarterback play from their Senior Quinton Williams, or their versatile skill players sprinkled in the offense.

The Eagles are calling for physicality for the keys to winning the ball game, and to “be very sound, and very disciplined, play for however long it takes, if we do that, I like our chances,” Eagles Defensive Coordinator Courtney Coard said in his interview with the NCCU Kickoff show.

Through eighth games, the Bison have been the least penalized team in conference play, and their defense has allowed the least number of touchdowns.

“They have played well in the MEAC, but they haven't played too well outside of the conference. We feel good about the game, if we come in here not focused and not doing our job they could upset us, we feel like we should get out of there with a win.” DB Brandon Codrington said.

With the Eagles averaging the most rushing yards per game in conference, at 202.3 YPG and most rushing touchdowns, with 22, the offensive line will be expected to continue to deliver for the offense's source of stability. This has been the formula for success thus far with the Eagles averaging over 33:02 with time of possession, ranking first in conference. Staying on the field, and controlling the clock is something the Bison can also hang their hat on, as they rank second in both time of possession, and third down conversions, both behind the Eagles who rank first in the FCS.

The North Carolina Central Eagles are looking to extend their home game winning streak to five, dating back to last season. The sideline will be charged with plenty of energy and motivation, for Saturday afternoon being homecoming and senior night, the eagles have all determination to protect the nest.
